Frequently Asked Questions

+ Where are you located?

I am in the Financial District, on the second floor at 90 Broad Street. I'm also currently conducting teletherapy appointments.

+ What’s your fee and schedule?

Please contact me directly and we can speak further about the fees and schedule.

+ How long is a session?

45 minutes, however, EMDR sessions have the flexibility to be 90 minutes.

+ What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours notice from the appointment time. For late cancellations, a full session fee will be charged.

+ How do I set up my first appointment?

Email me or use the form on the Contact page to set up a free 15 minute phone consultation where we can discuss my professional background, your reason/s for coming to therapy, and how to set up a first appointment. You can also ask any questions you may have. If we decide to move forward with a first appointment, you will receive an email with documents for you to review and complete, which does include a short intake form. After that, I'll look forward to working with you!

+ Who do you work with?

I work with all ages above age 18, with men, women, and couples. To determine if we are a good fit, I do offer a short phone consultation which is optional.

Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to get a history from you. I do my best to provide a warm, nonjudgmental environment with gentle prodding to allow you to share your narrative and feel that you have a right to feel the feelings that come up instead of repressing or putting them aside. From the first session, we start formulating a strategy together of what we want to work on and what that might look like.

+ What modalities do you use?

I use an eclectic approach, which means I draw from multiple modalities to tailor the treatment to you and what you specifically need. This includes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and a few other skills-based interventions combined with psychodynamic approaches. I continue to increase my skills and knowledge by attending training and continuing readings/supervisions to implement skills.

+ How long does therapy last?

This may be frustrating to hear, but there's no specific time table for how long therapy may take. It is stated that EMDR is “quicker” than talk therapy, however, it is hard to predict how long that is as well. Part of my role is to help you see the progress that gets made, and also to remind you that this is an ongoing process. I often use the metaphor of the hare and the tortoise, where the hare was overly confident in taking big leaps (seen as quick progress), but ends up underestimating and losing the race. The tortoise on the other hand, keeps persevering, taking small but significant steps that add to his journey and allows the finish line. Progress is not linear, there are back-slips, almost like a dimmer on the light. This is why I believe it is essential that I take in all the information, the data and the sessions, and be able to keep pointing out what progress has been made, and what this looks like.

+ What can I expect from therapy with you?

I understand that it may be frustrating to point out the silver lining. Instead what I try to do is just be there with you in your experience, feeling your emotions, walking with you while you talk about your narrative, and just let you know that feeling assured about your experience can be the first step to figuring out what to do with it. I may use humor, but appropriately, to help you feel the sense of me, that I can be genuine and warm. I also continue my work outside of our sessions, to figure out how to structure the treatment to make it work for you.

+ Do you provide supervisions?

I work with clinicians on deepening their knowledge of their clients, “walking alongside” their experiences to help clinicians work with their clients. Together, we can keep track of different themes that arise within your clients, and even for you when you are in the sessions. We hold them together and explore the materials and countertransference that comes up for you. To discuss supervisions, please reach out via email or the form on my Contact page.
